Why I Love It: After years of borderline iron deficiency and struggling with supplements that always upset my stomach, I had given up on iron supplements even though I really needed them. So when I discovered Spatone it was actually life-changing – I’d been sick for several months with a viral infection and I started taking it – well within a week, I went from complelety dizzy and fatigued – to full of energy! I could actually cook, clean, and get through my day without the same level of extreme exhaustion again. While it wasn’t a cure to my POTS, it was sorely needed to help me get to a functional place again.

It seems to work for me because most iron supplements are very high in iron but don’t actually absorb well – so the excess iron continues to travel through the gut, and can trigger symptoms like nausea, constipation, or diarrhoea. In contrast, Spatone is a low dose option that comes from a natural spring, meaning the iron is actually very gentle and absorbable, and it doesn’t have any additions that can trigger my sensitive stomach unlike most supplements either.

As a liquid form I can also mix it in with any flavouring I like (preferably a juice with vitamin C to help absorbtion even more!).
